Tips to Stay Motivated this Fall Semester

Back in school and it already feels like you’ve been hit with a months worth of essays to write? Join the club. Sure, Fall semester has just begun, but that doesn’t mean you get a free pass to ease back into school.

If you feel like you’re already dreading the new semester, here are a few tips on how to stay motivated this season and not drop your GPA.

  1. Don’t Procrastinate:

    The best way to begin the school year is by preparing for all upcoming projects and assignments. Have ideas in mind for your first couple of assignments, jot down a couple notes and you’re already on the right path to succeeding.

  2. Keep a Calendar:


    Keep a calendar in your room and mark the important days for due dates and exams. Every time a day goes by, cross off that day which allows you to be excited to finish one more day of the semester and it gives you a push to finish the next assignment that’s due!

  3. Practice Time Management:

    I work 5 days a week and I’m a full time student (yes, 5 classes) who still manages to get a workout in at the gym everyday. Don’t complain and stress out, you can do it! All you need is to manage your time well.

    Reorganize your schedule if you have to do, and don’t hesitate to wake up early to start your days rather than sleeping in till noon. The faster your day begins, the quicker it ends! And you’ll have time to binge watch Netflix by the end of the night.

  4. Airplane Mode:

    No, this doesn’t mean to take a getaway vacation last minute because you’re stressed out from school. Put your phone on airplane mode while studying or doing homework; it works! You’ll be surprised how fast you can get your work done when your phone isn’t a distraction.

  5. Don’t Forget to Breathe:

    In the midst of the semester you may experience tiredness mixed with procrastination. Don’t give up! Take time for yourself to relax and gather yourself together. Take a long bath, go for a run or enjoy quality time by yourself. And then hit the books once you feel more relaxed!
